The goal of the fuel storage tank system decommissioning plan at Fort Reliance is to permanently withdraw from service and remove the tank system as per the requirements outlined in the Storage Tank Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products Regulations (SOR/2008-197) and all
applicable Territorial requirements and best management practices. This includes removing any remaining product/sludge from all tanks, associated piping infrastructure and associated equipment, purging the tanks of vapours, removing the tanks from the site, and disposing of the tank system and waste products as appropriate. The existing containment structures will also be decommissioned as part of this program whereby liner systems and concrete containment structures will be disassembled and shipped off-site for disposal or recycling.
It is not expectedthat any campwill be set up.
