Geotechnical Drilling Program for a Proposed New School in Colville Lake, NT

The purpose of this application is to conduct a geotechnical drilling program at two preferred sites (Sites A1 or A2 and C; please see the map provided) within the municipal boundaries of Colville Lake, NT, for the construction of a proposed new school. Tetra Tech Canada Inc. will carry out this project on behalf of GNWT-INF. The geotechnical drilling program will be conducted in accordance with the National Standard of Canada CAN/BQN 500/2017, using a track-mounted geotechnical auger drill rig owned and operated by Mobile Augers & Research Ltd., of Edmonton, Alberta. Tetra Tech will monitor the drilling of seven (7) boreholes at Site A1 or A2, and four (4) boreholes at Site C. One borehole per site will be advanced to 18 m or refusal and the other boreholes will be advanced to 12 m, or refusal, whichever is shallowest. The number and depth of boreholes may be adjusted by Tetra Tech, in consultation with GNWT Infrastructure. No camp will be required for this project.  Drilling is expected to take approximately five days. Tetra Tech will arrange for the mobilization and demobilization of the drill rig and oversee the drilling. The permit has been requested for a term of one year from 01/02/2020.
