Norman Wells Hydrocarbon-Contaminated Soil Treatment Facility (HSTF)

Transport Canada divested the Norman Wells Airport to the Northwest Territories as part of the Arctic Airport Transfer Agreement in the mid-1990s.  To meet obligations to address contamination at the airport prior to the transfer, Transport Canada has remediated various sites at the Norman Wells Airport and placed hydrocarbon contaminated soils into an on-site land treatment facility (LTF) which was constructed in 2003. The associated Land Use Permit for the installation of groundwater monitoring wells is S17X-004.
